California's SANTA CLARA — Running back Elijah Mitchell of the San Francisco 49ers missed Friday's preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers due to a hamstring injury and may not participate in any of the team's next three preseason contests.

Mitchell is battling with a hamstring issue, according to Niners coach Kyle Shanahan, and won't participate in next week's game against the Minnesota Vikings, either, after Friday's 28-21 victory over the Packers.

The same is true of cornerback Charvarius Ward, who is also dealing with a strained hamstring.
